In the first of its kind, telecom company At&T, introduces cryptocurrency payment as an option in the United States of America.
A press release by the telecom giant stated that it would now accept online bill payments through BitPay, a cryptocurrency payment processor. Talking on the development, Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations, said, “We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”
Additionally, the company stated that customers would be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they logged on to their accounts online or with the myAT&T app.
Surprisingly, BitPay did not have much to add to the news. They merely tweeted out the link to the AT&T’s press release. However, as it is with any announcement involving an exchange, there were mixed reviews, with some customers rooting for the move and some against it.
